I have been lucky enough to capture this little lady three times in the last 8 months! She is at such an adorable age– all smiles and so excited about everything. She did get a little mad at me toward the end– I think she was through with being dolled up and stuck in baskets– but I love that little face, too!

I haven’t met a little one that didn’t love my red tricycle. It has been through my friend’s children, my son, and many children I have photographed along the way. I’ve often wondered if it comes in pink! Anyway, for this little guy– I should have hidden it until the middle of the session because once he spotted it, there was no leaving it behind. When we hid it, he tried to ride my stool, but it just didn’t move the same way! This was just a quick session to capture the curls before the haircut– can’t wait to see him next week! More soon!

Hip Studio offers an elegant solution for displaying your favorite images in a small space. The 8″x8″ desk collage is a great way to display 4 or 5 photos. Most clients order them for a desk or shelf and use an easel for display (available at Michael’s Crafts, JoAnn’s Fabric, or AC Moore). The black beveled edge gives the collage a very finished look. The first one shown below is my original studio display and has weathered a few years of wear and tear pretty nicely– the corners are the most susceptible to wear. The last two collages are in plastic wrap as they are client orders awaiting delivery– but its nice to see other photo configurations!

The holiday madness is waning…but not over just yet! At our house the last week was spent relaxing and reconnecting with family and friends, building and playing with toys, and watching movies. In the middle of the paper tearing joy, I found myself so grateful for all the blessings I have in my life. As I looked around my house at that very moment, I saw things that I WANTED to change, update, or replace… but everything that I NEEDED was before me. Really, is there a better gift?

I want you–blog readers, lurkers, fellow photographers, family, and friends– to know just how much I appreciate you. Sometimes the smallest things that you write in an email or on facebook completely make my day– yes, working in front of a computer 75% of the time tends to become isolating! Thank you to all my wonderful clients for putting faith and trust in me to capture your special moments. I am but a small part of each of your lives, but when bundled together, it brings such a rush of emotion to watch the beautiful faces scroll across the screen. I hope the moments that we’ve captured bring happiness to your heart for many years to come! Happy New Year!

Blog neglect!

Guilty– I have been working really hard on holiday deadlines so I’ve let the blog go unattended! I promise to catch up very soon! For now, I have a special little treat. One of my last holiday sessions of the year… these little girls are just the cutest ever! They have the best little dimples… too, too adorable! I must catch up on some sleep, but I’ll do my best to have more posts in the next few days!

The first words I heard from this little guy when I arrived bright and early Saturday morning was an emphatic, “NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!” I wasn’t quite sure what was going to happen in the next 90 minutes…but lucky for us, he was a pretty easy target. When you are this cute, you can get away with just about anything! Just a couple for now– but the one on the right will for sure be a session favorite of mine!

I posted a single photo a week or so ago of a little 6 day old guy with a faux hawk (here)! I promised to post some additional photos of the family and big sister… and here they are! I don’t think she was trying to steal the show or anything… it just comes natural for little princesses to work their magic in front of the camera (especially when a basket of DumDum’s were calling her name)!

Oh yes, another set of beautiful twin girls! For this session, we headed to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens. It was a beautiful afternoon so there were lots of visitors, a wedding in progress, and we even witnessed a proposal. We were actually photographing near the bridge where the sharply dressed gentleman was waiting with flowers. We noticed him looking at his watch and it didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what was about to happen. We crossed the bridge and took some photos in the grass and noticed an older couple peeking over towards the bridge… anxious parents, I imagine. At this point, I started to get a little nervous… with the parents there, what if she didn’t show up… or almost worse what if she didn’t say yes. My fears were calmed as she finally arrived, the question was popped, the answer was undoubtedly yes, and everyone hugged and kissed. So best of luck to the mystery couple who got engaged last Saturday afternoon at Meadowlark! Now on to our photo story which starts and ends with apples in a basket…and a very cute cake makes an appearance somewhere in between! Again, a very large share– I don’t know what is wrong with me! I just can’t choose
