What matters most…

I often tell clients (so you’ve probably heard this from me) that I’ve done my job if you look at a picture that I’ve taken and feel something. My goal, of course is to evoke the kind of joy and happiness that makes your eyes well with tears, but I settle for all emotions! I’ve failed if you feel nothing when you look at your photos. Have you ever looked at other people’s photos and found yourself smiling or gotten goosebumps? I do this with many sessions and this one was definitely one of those! It could be because I feel like I know them a little. I took photos of the family two years ago when big brother was 1 year old… so it was an honor and pleasure to photograph his little brother and family again. I think the other reason is because these photos show a real American family enjoying  time together at a beautiful park. There were smiles, belly laughs, snacks, and almost an unexpected dip in the water. So while I do have shots with all family members looking at the camera (believe it or not), these were my favorites!

And one from two years ago…this was an outtake from the session. He was so fascinated with my lens cap… and what’s even funnier is that it says Nikon– I’m a complete Canon girl these days!

Oh and because of the heat we did this session in the late afternoon which I would highly recommend until the end of September when the weather starts to cool a bit.
